Health Canada is recalling several candles sold at Anthropologie because they pose fire and laceration hazards.
The recall – issued on Wednesday (Feb. 16) with the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission and Anthropologie -- affects Anecdote Autumn Glass Candles in the scents “Fireside Chats,” Weekend Getaway,” “Sweater Weather,” and “Fall Feels,” according to Health Canada.
“The double wick candles can achieve higher than usual flames, causing the glass container to break, posing risks of injury and property damage,” the recall notice reads.
Style | Style number | SKU |

Sweater Weather | AF21SWE | 0063344949 |

The candle’s scent and “Anecdote Candles for Anthropologie” are printed on the label on the side of the glass candle container, while the SKU number is found on the price label on the bottom of the candles.
According to Health Canada, the candles are made with glass tumblers, a wood lid, cotton core wick, Phthalate-free fragrance oil, coconut-soy wax blend.
In total, 623 of the affected products were sold in Canada between August 2021 and December 2021.
Health Canada said that, as of Jan. 21, 2022, Anthropologie has not received any reports of incidents or injuries in Canada.
However, in the U.S. and the U.K., the company has received nine reports of the candles flaming up, cracking or breaking apart when in use, which has caused “minor property damage.” No injuries have been reported.
Health Canada said people should immediately stop using the candles and return them to an Anthropologie store.
If the candle cannot be returned in store, consumers should visit www.anthropologie.com/recall for instructions on how to cut the candle wicks, provide verification of this to Anthropologie, and receive a full refund.
