Drivers travelling on Highway 99 through Richmond should expect delays tonight.
Highway 99 will be closed in both directions from 11 p.m. on Aug. 7 until 4:30 a.m. on Aug. 8 for construction at the Steveston Interchange.
Crews will be moving heavy machinery across the highway as part of the interchange project, according to the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.
Traffic will be detoured using the on- and off-ramps, with short-term traffic stops during work.
Access for emergency responders, residents and businesses will be maintained by crews during the work.
From 10 p.m. Aug. 8 to 5 a.m. Aug. 11, Highway 99 traffic will also be reduced to one lane in each direction.
The lane restrictions are needed to start building the bridge deck as part of phase one of the Steveston Interchange Project, explained the ministry in a media statement.
The eastbound to northbound loop ramp will also be closed with traffic rerouted on site to access the north ramp.
Drivers are asked to use caution through the detour and may want to consider alternative routes
