Black plumes of smoke were seen in Richmond's Bridgeport area on Thursday morning.
A house on Craig Court and No. 4 Road was ablaze shortly before 9 a.m. on Jan. 2 with flames seen pouring out of the ground-level window of a single-family home.
Two Richmond Fire-Rescue trucks were on scene with firefighters putting out the fire.
By about 10 a.m., the fire had been largely extinguished.
Medical treatment was given to two patients who were taken to the hospital in stable condition, according to paramedic public information officer Brian Twaites.
Richmond RCMP was also at the scene with traffic control.
While on scene, officers arrested and released a man for an "unrelated matter," according to Cpl. Adriana O'Malley, media relations officer with Richmond RCMP.
As of 11 a.m., No. 4 Road between Bridgeport Road and Craig Court was still blocked off.
An investigation into the cause of the fire has been started.
