A $20,000 donation from the Rotary Club of Richmond will go towards a new cystoscope for Richmond Hospital’s urology department.
A cystoscope is used in cystoscopy tests that look at the inside of the bladder and urethra.
The donation was made to the Richmond Hospital Foundation’s Surgical Restart campaign.
Candace Hernandez, vice president of the Richmond Hospital Foundation, said that both Richmond’s growing population as well as the number of patients requiring urologic care have increased.
“Rotary Club of Richmond’s donation will assist in the purchase of a new cystoscope and allow our expert health care team to keep pace with the increasing number of surgical procedures.”
The rotary club raised the $20,000 through a series of self-organized events, including a virtual Lunar New Year Dinner, online auction and raffle ticket sales, as well as donations from members and attendees.
“Rotarians are community-builders focused on improving the communities we live in and investing in the next generation,” said Suna Yee, the rotary club’s president.
“Contributing to our community health care system is long-lasting impact that will benefit patients now and in the future. We are honoured to be able to deliver a tangible, lasting solution for Richmond Hospital.”
