Dear Editor,
Re: “Empathy ranking at odds with Pink Shirt,” Editor’s column, Feb. 23.
I just read your op-ed. Thank you for again writing about a worthwhile topic in an objective voice.
I am sure you are aware that Mr. Chun’s views on the civility index mirror those of the CCP of China.
However, the civility index in China is a tracking tool of an authoritarian state on its citizens and not a do-good undertaking.
There has been much in the media of late about the CCP’s influence in Canadian politics, as reported by CSIS, including the impact said influence had on our local election regarding the Honourable Mr. Kenny Chiu.
I am pro free speech, especially that of the media, including Mr. Chun’s contributions.
But my mixed feelings are a result of my understanding of the influence of the CCP of China in Canadian society, including the deliberate use of Canadian media.
