After 52 days of sun and heat, Metro Vancouver finally saw rain, even if it was only for a couple of hours on Saturday.
According to Rolf Campbell, a weather historian and forecaster, Vancouver saw the “wettest Aug. 7” since the 1900s with 22.1 millimetres of rain having fallen by 11 a.m. yesterday.
A graph, posted on Twitter by Campbell, showed Vancouver’s most observed rainfall for the day was in 1943 with 19.3 millimetres.
On August 7, 2020, Vancouver saw 4.6 millimetres of rain placing last year in the 10th spot.
According to Environment Canada, a 40 per cent chance of showers is expected for Sunday with some rain to appear early afternoon.
