Dog owner Jocelyn Aspa’s spirits were lifted Wednesday when her privately hired pet detective quickly spotted her missing dog in Richmond, but he wasn’t able to capture him.
The Richmond News reported this week that Littlefoot, the rescue dog from Thailand who went missing Dec. 2 in Vancouver, was spotted in the city first near Lansdowne Centre and again near RC Talmey elementary. Aspa said she received several calls Wednesday that helped her pet detective hone in on the dog.
“When Al [the pet detective] went to Richmond yesterday, he spotted him quite quickly,” Aspa told the News.
But, unfortunately, instead of coming to Al easily Littlefoot took him on a “tour across Richmond.”
The dog travelled along Cambie Road, through a construction site and into the Garden City Lands.
It was too dangerous for the detective to approach Littlefoot, in case the shy pup spooked and bolted into traffic.
“He’s scared and he doesn’t trust anybody at this point,” Aspa said of her pet who has a naturally skittish personality. “They’re just trying to see if he will come to them by laying [humane] traps … they put food to lure him in safely.”
Aspa said this is the most positive result she’s had throughout her two-and-a-half week long search. Littlefoot was previously almost caught by animal control in Vancouver, but the encounter dislodged one of this collars.
The pup ran away when he was out for a walk with Aspa’s boyfriend in Vancouver’s Mount Pleasant neighbourhood. Her boyfriend has epilepsy, and a seizure struck while he was out with Littlefoot. The dog was gone when the seizure passed.

Ok, day 18. For those that may have missed it Al and his team were following Littlefoot around yesterday in Richmond and almost got him a couple of times but there was traffic and could've been dangerous. Please keep eyes peeled just in case, I want to report any sightings to him https://t.co/0XxbMpTWVs
