Nomination packages for civic elections now available

On October 15, 2022, Richmond voters will be electing one Mayor, eight Councillors and seven School Board Trustees.

Anyone planning to run for Richmond city council can now pick-up their candidate nomination packages.

The nomination packages can be accessed online or picked up at the Richmond Elections Office, by appointment only.

Each package contains all necessary documents and information prospective candidates need to begin their nomination process. 

The candidate nomination period begins on Tuesday, Aug. 30 at 9 a.m. and runs until Friday, Sept. 9 at 4 p.m.

To run in the Richmond election, a candidate must:

  • Be a resident of BC for at least six months before filing their nomination documents
  • Be at least 18 years old on General Voting Day
  • Be a Canadian citizen
  • Not be disqualified by law

Candidates cab submit completed their nomination papers electronically to [email protected] after completing the solemn declaration in front of a lawyer, notary or Commissioner for Taking Affidavits in British Columbia.

Nomination papers can also be submitted in-person at the Richmond Elections Office by making an appointment.
