A giant tree branch came crashing down onto a busy Richmond road on Saturday evening, causing disruption to drivers.
According to local resident Grant McMillan, the large section of tree fell onto Gilbert Road, just north of Francis Road at around 9 p.m.
McMillan said that a crew from Richmond Fire-Rescue was on the scene within 15 minutes and closed off three lanes so it could assess the damage.
He added that it wasn’t windy at all in the area that evening, noting that it was lucky that no vehicles or people were underneath.
“This tree, like others nearby, has a very heavy load of leaves this year,” McMillan observed.
The road was clear by dawn on Sunday morning.
