The Richmond Jets Minor Hockey Association (RJMHA) held its opening day celebrations over the weekend.
The event featured free hot dogs, cotton candy and a bunch of outdoor hockey games.
According to photos shared on the Jets’ Facebook page, Richmond Olympian Evan Dunfee was there showing off his bronze medal.
Richmond South Centre MLA Henry Yao, Richmond school trustee Ken Hamaguchi and Coun. Michael Wolfe were also there and were brave enough to take a dip into the dunk tank.
Eric Bernal, president of the Jets, said it was a great turnout and all kids and their family members had fun.
“Hockey is for everyone,” said Bernal, adding that’s especially the case in Richmond.
“Hockey is a great cultural bridge to help families meet others from the same community and kids can also meet different groups of friends.”
The 19th annual International Ice Breaker Rep Tournament is slated for Thanksgiving weekend from Oct. 8-10.
