Richmond fisherman pleads guilty to fishing, selling out of season

Stefan Grega pleaded guilty to five counts contrary to the Fisheries Act.

A fisherman, whose boat was registered in Richmond in 2023, pleaded guilty to fishing and selling fish outside the designated season.

Stefan Grega was found in Daajing Giids, on Haida Gwaii, in May 2022 with fishing gear in the water while the fishery was closed.

Grega is facing five charges under the Fisheries Act: fishing outside of the set season, catching rockfish and halibut, being in possession of fish caught in contravention of the Fisheries Act and selling fish.

His boat was registered at an address in the Seafair area in 2023.

He pleaded guilty to the five counts on March 17, 2025 and is set to be sentenced in Richmond Provincial Court on April 29.
