A Vancouver-based tea shop specializing in "tea'spressos" and plant-based bubble teas is soft opening its new Richmond location this Friday.
Paragon Tea Room is opening in the former Faebrew pour-over coffee spot at Kam Do Plaza, on No. 3 Road, between Browngate and Leslie roads.
This will be Paragon's second permanent location, in addition to its pop-up spot at Vancouver International Airport.
The tea shop is known for its teaspresso-based lattes, including its classic matcha oat, hojicha obsidian oat and iced oolong Hong Kong milk tea.
The menu also includes baked goods such as cookies and bubble waffles.
Owners Michelle Cheung and Nelson Poon told the Richmond News they will be offering mochi muffins exclusively at their Richmond location in collaboration with Richmond-based Buttercrumbs.
They are also considering adding kinako genmaicha oat and kinako hojicha oat lattes to their menu.
Kinako is a roasted soybean flour, often used in Japanese cuisine.
Cheung and Poon previously told the News the Richmond community feels like a "melting pot" and "gathering place" for locals and visitors, which was also what attracted them to expand to the community.
"We believe in creating spaces where people can connect over a cup of tea, share stories and build lasting memories," they said.
"Richmond offers that sense of togetherness and community spirit that we cherish, and we are excited to be a part of it."
The new shop space has a long bench with tables, outlets, hidden storage space, and a few tables and window seats.
Paragon opened its first location in Vancouver's Olympic Village in 2019 and later moved to its current spot on Cambie Street.
Paragon Tea Room's Richmond location is opening at #140 - 4328 No. 3 Rd.
