RCMP ask for dash-cam footage after cyclist crashes in Richmond

Anyone with information from the Thursday, Jan. 23 crash on No. 5 Road is asked to contact police.

Richmond RCMP are looking for information after a cyclist crashed on No. 5 Road on Thursday, Jan. 23.

Richmond RCMP are asking the public for dash-cam footage after a cyclist was found on the road by a good Samaritan.

On Thursday, Jan. 23, a Richmond RCMP officer was flagged down around 5:30 p.m. on No. 5 Road just north of Williams Road.

The good Samaritan was helping a cyclist who was injured on the road.

The police officer called for an ambulance and gave medical care until paramedics arrived. The cyclist was then transported to hospital.

The cyclist told RCMP he left his workplace and was cycling northbound on No. 5 Road. He remembered trying to pass an unoccupied parked car, but he has no further recollection of what happened.

RCMP are trying to determine what caused the cyclist to crash.

They are asking for dash-cam footage or witnesses who were on No. 5 Road between Steveston Highway and Kingsbridge Drive between 5:10 and 5:40 p.m.
