The Richmond City Chuckers AAA baseball team is off to provincials this weekend.
The U15 team, which is on a six-game winning streak – having won 10 out of their last 11 games – will be one of four teams vying for the provincial title in Penticton from Aug. 6 to 8.
The Chuckers qualified for provincials after beating Kelowna twice in their last regulation games at Blundell Park this past weekend.
The Chuckers won their first game handily against Kelowna 5-0.
Game 2, however, wasn’t the same cake walk.
With the score at 1-0 for Kelowna, the Chuckers rallied in the bottom of the 7th inning with two runs, clinching the game 2-1.
This put them third in the league and into the provincials.
The four teams competing for the provincial title are Vancouver Community, Penticton, Richmond and Cloverdale.
The Richmond City Chuckers play their first game against the Penticton Tigers at 8 p.m. Friday in Penticton.
