The number of COVID-19 cases in Richmond is following the provincial downward trend – dropping to only 28 cases this week (June 6-12).
Last week, there were still 41 cases of COVID-19 found in Richmond and the week prior, this number was 54, according to data from the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC).
Daily COVID-19 cases in B.C. have also been steadily dropping as more than 75 per cent of the adult population has been vaccinated – more than 3.4 million British Columbians have received their first dose.
The province reported Thursday 120 cases were detected in the previous 24 hours in B.C., with 131 people in hospital and 44 in intensive care.
The dropping COVID-19 cases prompted the provincial government this week to move to step 2 of re-opening the province, allowing travel within the province and larger gatherings.
Vaccination rates vary slightly across Richmond with a high of 80 per cent vaccinated with their first dose in Steveston compared to 74 per cent in the Thompson/Seafair area.
