New Continental Development, a Richmond developer, is calling on artists to create a piece of public art for a new “education city” mixed use development in the north of the city.

Artists are being asked to come up with designs based on a “Cross Roads” theme, with a budget of project is $113,000, including fees, fabrication, travel, accommodation and installation costs.

The artwork will be installed at the New Continental International Education City, close to Bridgeport Road and Sea Island Way, as part of the city’s public art program.

B.C.-based artists or artist teams are invited to submit their applications by Monday, Jan. 13 at 5 p.m.

According to the developer, they are looking for proposals that “will engage, inspire workers and visitors within the development and its urban environment.”

The developer’s guideline says it’s important that the artwork be “highly visible.” The selected artist or artist team will work with the proposed artwork’s design and location.”
