A popular grocery store in a Richmond strip mall is reportedly switching over to a rival brand.
The Richmond News understands that the IGA store in Garden City Shopping Centre – at Blundell and Garden City roads – will change to a Save-On Foods next month.
A regular shopper at IGA contacted the News to say staff had been telling her of the switch, believed to be taking place on Oct. 22.
The News reached out to both IGA and Save-On Foods earlier this week for comment, but neither has yet to respond.
However, when the News called the store on Wednesday afternoon, the employee who answered confirmed the switch in a few weeks.
The News also called the grocery store workers’ union – UFCW Local 1518 - to check if the current employees were being kept on.
