The number of COVID-19 patients at Richmond Hospital is holding steady at 18.
As of Wednesday afternoon, there were nine COVID-19 patients in the unit dedicated to the virus and nine in the intensive care unit, according to Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH).
Last week, VCH also reported there were 18 people in Richmond Hospital with COVID-19.
Across the province, the number of hospitalizations because of the virus has been climbing over the past few weeks, causing the province to put a two-week pause on elective surgeries at Richmond Hospital and other hospitals.
The province reported Thursday there were 503 people across the province in hospital with COVID-19, of whom 178 were in intensive care.
VCH, however, is urging anyone needing medical care not to hesitate to get it, saying it “continues to be safe to access services at hospitals and health-care clinics in our region.”
As of Friday, anyone born in 1965 or earlier can book their COVID-19 vaccine through the provincial system by calling 1-833-838-2323 or online at getvaccinated.gov.bc.ca.
