Richmond judge grants bail to man on trial for possessing IDs, counterfeit money

A man charged in Richmond Provincial Court with possession of other people’s identity documents has been granted bail.

Harvir Singh Dosanjh has been in custody since early October.

He was released on bail on Monday morning with conditions that include a curfew of 11 p.m. to 6 a.m., except for work or medical reasons. Conditions also include seeing a bail supervisor every week.

His trial started in October and will continue in February.

Dosanjh is charged with 13 counts of possession of other people’s identity documents and one count of possession of counterfeit US$20 bills.

He’s also charged with two counts of possession of false credit cards, one Mastercard and one TD Visa card.

Four other counts are for possession of identity information for the purpose of transmitting, distributing or selling it and knowing that it could be used for an indictable offence including fraud, deceit or falsehood.

Dosanjh has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
