Richmond lottery winner still to claim $7 million

The lucky man or woman who bought last week's winning Lotto 6/49 ticket in Richmond still hasn't claimed their $7 million prize.

The lucky man or woman who bought last week's winning Lotto 6/49 ticket in Richmond still hasn't claimed their $7 million prize.

But don't panic if you find your ticket stashed under the sofa; you have up to a year to claim the cash and change your life forever. The winning ticket was for the draw on Wednesday, Aug. 3, with the winning numbers: 6, 17, 21, 28, 31 and 38. The bonus number was 43.

BCLC spokeswoman Kim Steinbart said the length of time before a major prize is claimed can vary and can depend on a number of factors.

"Someone might not think to check their ticket at all or think to check it straight away, especially if they think no one has one," Steinbart said.

There's also the possibility that the winning ticket holder is out of the country and may not even know they're now a multi-million-aire.

However, Steinbart said BCLC can't release where in Richmond the winning ticket was bought or when.

"We can't give that information out until the prizewinner comes forward, because they are some of the security questions that we have to ask."
