The BC Coroners Service has confirmed Huseyin Tas, 38, of Richmond, as the man who died after a road accident west of Golden on Saturday.
Tas was a passenger in a delivery van, which was involved in a three-vehicle collision on Highway 1 in the Beaver Valley area of Glacier National Park.
The accident happened about 60 kilometres west of Golden at about 12:30 p.m.
According to RCMP, Tas commercial van had been traveling westbound along the Trans Canada, on a slight down grade, when it was hit from behind by a tractor-trailer.
The force of the impact sent the van into oncoming traffic where it side-swiped another semi truck.
"The driver of the van had difficulties getting out of the van but was able to make his way out; there were numerous efforts by first responders and the driver to extricate the passenger from the rear of the van however the passenger perished and was pronounced dead at the scene," said RCMP Southeast District media spokesperson, Cpl. Dan Moskaluk.
Police believe the wet and slushy road conditions may have played factor in the deadly crash.
The family of Tas has been notified of his death.
