Richmond ranks third in B.C. for Airbnb prices

The cost of renting an Airbnb in Richmond is the seventh highest in the country, according to money.ca, and the third highest in B.C.

The average cost of staying at an Airbnb in Richmond is $258 per night.

According to money.ca, a one-bedroom Airbnb in Richmond cost $175 per night on average, a two-bedroom was $228 and a three-bedroom was $372.

The City of Richmond has been cracking down on illegal short-term rentals and they have hired extra bylaw officers to deal with them.

So far this year, they’ve issued 290 tickets for illegal Airbnbs in Richmond – sometimes multiple tickets are given to one location. In July alone, they issued 47 tickets.

The most expensive place for Airbnb stays in Canada was Vancouver where the average price was $325 per night.

Kelowna ranked third with stays averaging $286.

The statistics were compiled by money.ca from Statistics Canada and Airbnb’s earning tool.
