Richmond RCMP arrested a man after he allegedly made threats against the police.
The incident was reported shortly before 10:15 a.m. on Nov. 22. A man was allegedly uttering threats against police while live-streaming on a social media platform.
A community member reported the incident to Richmond RCMP, saying the man was outside Richmond City Hall where they then arrested him.
“We commend the member of the public who promptly recognized the potential risk and reported this incident, enabling officers to act swiftly and arrest the individual without incident," said Insp. Michael Cohee with Richmond RCMP Investigative Services, adding the quick action showed the community's "vigilance and cooperation in preventing harm."
“Threats of violence, whether online or in person, are taken very seriously, and we remind everyone that such actions will be met with a swift and coordinated response to ensure the safety of all.”
The investigation remains active and ongoing. No further information is available.
