Police are asking the public for help in solving the deaths of two teenage girls, one of whom died in Richmond and the other in Burnaby more than 18 months ago.
In March, 2010 Richmond RCMP were called to a home for a report that a youth was in medical distress. Martha Jackson, 17, died in relation to the incident and Richmonds Serious Crimes Unit began an investigation.
On the same day, Burnaby RCMP were called to the 4000 block of Rumble Street for a report of another youth in medical distress. Kayla Lalonde, 16, also died. Both girls are understood to have been partying at the home of Martin Tremblay before their tragic deaths.
Toxicology results were reviewed and indicate that the apparent cause of death for both girls was a lethal combination of alcohol and drugs.
Tremblay has recently been charged by the VPD for a number of offences.
At this time, we are hopeful that due to the cooperation of a number of courageous individuals and the exhaustive efforts of our investigative team, we will soon have some answers for the families of Martha and Kayla, said Richmond RCMPs Cpl. Sherrdean Turley in a press release.
As this investigation is continuing, we are actively seeking individuals who we believe may have evidence surrounding the circumstances of Martha and Kaylas deaths, writes Turley.
We would like to encourage these individuals to please come forward to assist us in providing Martha and Kaylas families with closure.
