Richmond RCMP say they are dealing with “overwhelming shock and grief” after one of their officers passed away on Sunday.
The death occurred while the officer was off-duty and the BC Coroners Service is investigating, said Supt. Will Ng, Richmond RCMP’s officer-in-charge, in a statement Tuesday afternoon.
“Their family has asked for privacy so we have not discussed the loss publicly,” said Ng. “However, information around the death has been shared with the greater RCMP family so we can all come together to deal with the tragic news about one of our own.”
Supports are in place for the officer’s family and RCMP members, he said.
“We will continue to monitor everyone’s wellness moving forward,” said Ng.
