Richmond RCMP seek witnesses in alleged impaired crash last week

An accident on Dec. 12 involved a grey vehicle and a semi-truck at Great Canadian Way and Sea Island Way.

Richmond RCMP is looking for witnesses and dashcam footage related to a car accident involving an alleged drunk driver last week.

Officers responded to a two-vehicle collision on Dec. 12 shortly after 8 p.m. at Sea Island Way and Great Canadian Way.

A semi-truck had rear-ended a grey Hyundai Elantra near the intersection that night.

The driver of the Hyundai told Richmond RCMP he had spoken with the semi-truck driver and could "smell what he believed to be liquor on the driver’s breath."

Frontline officers arrested the driver for allegedly driving under the influence at the scene.

Anyone in the area of Great Canadian Way and Sea Island Way between 7:50 and 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 12 is asked to review their dash cam footage.

Richmond RCMP is aware of potential footage of the collision circulating on social media and are asking anyone who may have footage to come forward.
