Richmond Rugby Club’s Colton Carpenter has been named to a Canadian national team squad for November.

The Canada Wolverines senior men’s rugby league team has taken notice of Carpenter’s efforts, naming him to their 17-man roster for their game against the USA Hawks on Nov. 5 in Tampa, Florida.

According to the club’s president, Graham Haigh, “dedication to rugby and an incredible work ethic has served Colton…well throughout his time with the (club).

Carpenter, who has scored an astounding eight tries in four games so far this season, has helped Richmond to an undefeated start to their fall campaign.

“His quickness in space and his unrelenting attacking style helped (him) be named the unanimous Richmond RFC MVP for the 2021-22 season and he has certainly picked up the slack so far in the 2022-2023 season,” added Haigh.

Carpenter also plays summer rugby for the Valley Warriors Rugby League side, under the watchful eye of local coach Ben Hickey who, says Haigh, “has been an integral part of their continued growth.”
