Jeremy Gens and his classmates in McNair’s Grade 12 business marketing class are encouraging people to sell self-designed T-shirts and candles to support cancer fighters.

Matthew McNair secondary students are selling self-designed T-shirts and scented candles to fundraise for people who are battling against cancer.

Every year, students in McNair’s Grade 12 business marketing class are encouraged to raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society.

Jeremy Gens and his marketing class peers have been busy raising both money and cancer awareness by selling self-designed T-shirts for the past couple of weeks as part of this class’ tradition.

The T-shirts are donned with words like “join the fight” and a lavender ribbon which symbolizes cancer as a whole.

Gens said this year’s fundraiser affected their class more than ever after knowing that more than one of their peers have been affected personally or indirectly by cancer.

“One of the students at our school in my grade was diagnosed with cancer and two other students’ moms were also diagnosed with cancer,” said Gens.

“We want to help and bring awareness of cancer since it’s a hard battle that a lot of people are still fighting every day.”

This year’s fundraiser will continue another three weeks with all proceeds going to the Canadian Cancer Society.
