Iron Man, the Hulk, Spider-Man, Thanos, Kingpin and more Marvel superheroes and villains will be battling it out in a live mobile game tournament in Richmond this weekend.
Top players and fans of Marvel Contest of Champions, a mobile fight game created by Vancouver-based studio Kabam, will descend upon The Gaming Stadium on No. 3 Road near Aberdeen Centre to celebrate the game’s ninth anniversary.
On Friday and Saturday, eight top players hailing from Canada, U.S., Mexico, U.K. and Finland will go head-to-head in front of a live audience during the game’s first-ever live event.
Launched in 2014, Marvel Contest of Champions is a free-to-play game that allows players to collect heroes and villains and create teams for epic battles in the Marvel universe.
It includes various playing modes with regular updates and is available for iOS and Android.
The quarter-finals of the tournament will take place at 10 a.m. on Oct. 20 and semi-finals and finals will take place on Oct. 21 at 11 a.m.
Audience members can register to attend the tournament in person for free and it will also be livestreamed on Kabam’s Twitch channel. For more information, visit Kabam’s website.
