Six dogs may have died in Richmond

Six dogs that were reported missing from a Langley dog park and then subsequently found dead in Abbotsford may have actually perished in Richmond.

Six dogs that were reported missing from a Langley dog park and then subsequently found dead in Abbotsford may have actually perished in Richmond.

The dogs are believed to have died of heatstroke in the back of a dog walker's truck in Richmond last week.

The dog walker from Delta, however, told Langley RCMP a week ago that the dogs went missing May 13 after she had left them unattended in the back of her pickup truck in Langley for a short time. Her story provoked a Lower Mainland-wide search for the dogs.

Mounties confirmed Monday that all six dogs had been found dead and the SPCA is investigating allegations of animal cruelty.

One of the dog owners said Langley RCMP told her the dogs may have actually died of heat exhaustion while in the dog-walker's truck outside a Richmond business, although Langley RCMP wouldn't officially confirm to the News that was the case.

The RCMP is continuing to investigate allegations of public mischief in connection to the case.

The dog walker was arrested on Monday before the carcasses were found, according to Langley RCMP Cpl. Holly Marks. She has since been released and no charges have yet been laid.
