Update: Motorcyclist dies in vehicle collision in Richmond

A serious collision has closed the No. 2 Road bridge in Richmond

A motorcyclist has died following a vehicle collision in Richmond on Monday afternoon.

Richmond RCMP officers arrived shortly to Russ Baker Way and Inglis Drive after receiving a call of a motor vehicle collision between a motorcycle and a transport bus around 12:30 p.m.

"Despite the efforts of emergency personnel on scene, the operator of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased," said Cpl. Dennis Hwang, spokesperson of the Richmond RCMP, in a media statement.

"The operator of the transport bus was not injured."

Richmond RCMP Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT) has taken over the case with the Lower Mainland collision analysis and reconstructive team are assisting.

Police has the area closed and motorists are to find alternate routes.

YVR airport is reassuring transit users that shuttles to and from the airport's south terminal are not impacted.

Northbound traffic on No. 2 Road is blocked from Westminster Highway to Inglis Drive. Southbound Russ Baker Way is blocked from Gilbert Road.
