The West Cambie Children's Centre has closed its Infant Program for 14 days due to COVID-19.

The West Cambie Children’s Centre will be reopening its Infant Program next week, after Vancouver Coastal Health confirmed there was no COVID-19 exposure there.

“VCH/Public Health confirmed today that there was no COVID-19 exposure event at West Cambie Children’s Centre,” the centre said in an emailed statement to the Richmond News Friday evening.

“There was an unfortunate miscommunication between the family and VCH, and the information provided by the family to the childcare centre was inaccurate. The Infant Program will reopen on Monday, Nov. 16.”

The centre had sent an email to families earlier this week, informing them that it had made the decision to proactively close its Infant Program for 14 days, until Nov. 23.

That decision was made after a family attending the program informed the children’s centre that their child tested positive for COVID-19.

However, that was a miscommunication and there was no exposure at West Cambie Children's Centre, according to the centre’s statement Friday.
