A 23-year-old man is in stable condition in hospital following an early morning shooting outside a Holiday Inn in Richmond on Sunday.

The man was shot once in the face, a police spokesman told the media.

It followed an incident in which two groups of men were seen talking outside the Holiday Inn Airport Hotel in the 10700 block of Cambie Road, near St. Edwards Drive, just before 1 a.m. on Sunday.

Richmond RCMP serious crime investigators were interviewing a number of witnesses.

The victim has no gang-related ties, said the report.
