A broken water main at No. 3 and Ackroyd roads will take the entire day to fix, the City of Richmond said Saturday.
The burst water main has caused flooding in the area, and occured early Saturday morning. A video sent to the Richmond News shows part of the intersection seemingly caved-in, and filled with water.
A city spokesperson told the Richmond News that Richmond Fire-Rescue reported the break to dispatch at 6:42 a.m., and city staff were then called to isolate the break to control flooding.
According to the City of Richmond, crews are in communication with managers of affected buildings.
Physical distancing is also being observed for both residents and staff, according to the city, and alternative water sources are being supplied.
According to a tweet by Twitter user @mike__zee, who says he is in quarantine with no water, the water main has been burst since around 6:30 a.m.
B.C. Hydro crews are also on-site to repair the power, which has been out for 113 customers.
