The Richmond Animal Shelter has made a fresh appeal for a new home for a dog called Lucy.
Lucy, a year-old German shepherd, was found tied to a fence outside of the No. 5 Road BC SPCA shelter more than four months ago.

And, despite a lot of interest in a dog shelter staff describe as “sweet and affectionate,” Lucy is still looking for new owners.
“At first, Lucy may come across as shy when meeting new people, but beneath that initial hesitation lies a heart brimming with affection waiting to be discovered,” according to shelter staff.
“Gaining her trust may take some time, but it’s a journey worth embarking on.
“Once Lucy opens up to you, she’s an absolute sweetheart. She adores cuddles and isn’t shy about showing it. Watch as she playfully flops onto her back, inviting belly rubs, and charmingly whines and paws at you, urging you to continue.”
Lucy loves other dogs
Staff say Lucy has made “a few furry friends during her time in our care” and she “thrives in the company of other dogs, particularly larger male companions.”
A patient and equally playful canine friend could be the perfect match for her, added staff.
However, Lucy’s preference leans toward a calm and quiet environment, where she can feel secure and at ease.
“During her stay with us, Lucy has been working on her barrier reactivity and has shown remarkable progress through training,” according to staff.
“With a committed and patient owner, she is sure to continue improving and blossoming into the wonderful companion she’s meant to be.”

1.) Visit the BC SPCA shelter at 12071 No 5 Rd to meet this pet during adoption viewings Friday to Tuesday noon to 3pm, learn more about their ideal match, and apply to adopt in person; or
2.) Submit an online application adopt.spca.bc.ca and staff will contact the first suitable adopter to set-up a visit.
