A Burnaby homeowner is lucky to still have their house after firefighters managed to contain flames from spreading late Saturday/early Sunday morning.
At midnight, Burnaby firefighters were called to 3717 Elmwood St. for reports of a hedge on fire next to a house.
When firefighters arrived, they found flames shooting out of a propane tank had spread fire to a hedge.
Firefighters arrived just in time to stop the fire from spreading to the house. Due to the damage to the propane tank, firefighters were unable to turn it off, so they had to wait until the tank ran out of fuel to finally put the fire out.
The fire is now under investigation to confirm if it was deliberately set.
