A Richmond woman has been ordered to pay $460 in public health order fines for refusing to wear a mask on the Canada Line.
The woman filmed her altercation with a Transit Police officer late last year, screaming on video that she was exempt from wearing a mask and was being harassed after being asked to leave the train.
In the video, the officer can be seen calmly talking to the woman and asking her to leave the train if she continued to refuse to wear a mask.
She refused to leave the train and, after several minutes, she was arrested.
Transit Police said they cannot name the woman, as she was not charged with a criminal offence.
However, she identified herself as Valerie Ann Foley in a YouTube interview with the Rebel News, in which she claimed she was assaulted by the transit police officer.
Foley disputed the fines but they were upheld this week by a Justice of the Peace in court, according to the Transit Police.
“Transit Police received an unprecedented amount of support for Cst. Kwok when a video of him went viral. Today, we are able to share that the woman involved was found guilty and will have to pay all of her violation,” read a statement on the Metro Vancouver Transit Police Twitter account.
Transit Police said they recommended charges against Foley, but the BC Prosecution Service did not lay them.
The Richmond News understands that it was also Foley who verbally abused a worker at Bosley’s pet store in Richmond’s Terra Nova shopping centre last month.
Again, she filmed the incident, which shows her kicking off after being asked to leave the store for not wearing a mask.
In the video, she again claims to have proof of being medically exempt from wearing a mask and appears to produce a “charter of human rights” before labelling the employees “absolutely disgusting.”
As she leaves the store, she yells “enjoy your lawsuit, you guys are disgusting. F*****g Gestapo. You’re a disgusting human being, you pig.”
She is also believed to be the same person that got fined by a Richmond Mountie for using Facebook Live while driving.
Her video of that encounter with police was also uploaded onto social media.
