Wind waves goodbye to Richmond

Its been a popular meeting place, photo op and addition to the Steveston landscape for the last 18 months or so.

Its been a popular meeting place, photo op and addition to the Steveston landscape for the last 18 months or so.

But, at the beginning of the next week, Wind Waves will be history in Garry Point Park as its custodians, Vancouver Biennale, remove the temporary artwork for pastures new.

So if you want a last chance to take photos, play in it or whatever, this weekend is the time to do it.

The City of Richmond gave its people the option last year, via an online survey, to retain the spherical piece at a price of up to $450,000. The people, however, said no, but thanks for asking.

And with its 18-month lease to the city now expired, Biennale has decided to remove it and put it in storage while it tries to sell it on the international market.
