Former Hugh Boyd football player Austin Galbraith is congratulated by his New West teammates after his interception for a touchdown in Saturday's 20-6 win over the South Delta Sun Devils. Galbraith finished the game with a pair of interceptions.

The Friday Night Lights may be off at Hugh Boyd Secondary but that doesn’t mean Trojan football isn’t living on elsewhere.

A number of players have continued their high school football careers at other programs this season where they haven’t wasted anytime in making an impression.

On Saturday in Tsawwassen, Austin Galbraith had a leading role in the New West Hyacks 20-6 win over the South Delta Sun Devils in Western Conference AAA action. The Grade 11 defensive back had a pair of interceptions, including one for a game-clinching touchdown in the third quarter as the No. 3 Hyacks remain undefeated.

Grade 12 Isaiah Daniels also saw some playing time in the Hyacks secondary.

Meanwhile, quarterback Byron Ruvalcaba threw one touchdown pass and ran in another to lead the Earl Marriott Mariners to a 14-0 win over Sullivan Heights in AAA Pacific Conference action.

Two weeks earlier, the Grade 11 pivot fired a pair of TD passes and rushed for a third major in a 34-20 win over Sardis. Ruvalcaba was Boyd’s starting QB last season.
