Connaught trio compete in Regina

A trio of Connaught Skating Club members performed well at the recent 2012 Skate Canada Challenge in Regina. Mitchell Gordon led the Richmond contingent with an 11th place finish in the Junior Men's Division.

A trio of Connaught Skating Club members performed well at the recent 2012 Skate Canada Challenge in Regina.

Mitchell Gordon led the Richmond contingent with an 11th place finish in the Junior Men's Division. Meanwhile, the Novice Men's Division saw Shawn Cuevas place ninth and Kurtis Schreiber 25th.

All three earned the opportunity to compete in Regina with outstanding performances at last month's B.C./Yukon Sectional Championships. Gordon captured the Junior Men's competition, winning the short and long programs. Cuevas was third in the Novice Men's division, while Schreiber was right behind him in fourth place.

The other highlighted result was Danica Vangsgaard winning silver in the Pre-Juvenile Ladies division. Madge Sheung also skated well, placing fifth.

Pre-Juvenile Ladies: Rachel De Mello (19th), Alisa Katsuno (20th), Megan Kan (22nd), Jadine Ngan (25th), Kathleen Kong (36th).

Juvenile Ladies: Claudia Makhanko-Tang (7th), Amanda Feltham (9th), Bianca Duca (10th), Jessica Yuen (11th).

Pre-Novice Ladies: Emma Carr (11th), Danielle Gordon (12th), Erin Blouin (17th), Amy Li (22nd), Chiaki Katsuno (33rd), Katrin Shein (32nd), Catherine Giffin (57th).

Novice Ladies: Liz Shein (12th), Satah Folkestad (17th), Leanne Butler (19th).

Junior Ladies: Julie Gordon (11th).
