Richmond's Nate Hirayama has the opportunity to become just the second player to record 900 HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series points for Canada as he currently sits on 895.

Richmond’s Nathan Hirayama has been named one of Canada’s captains as the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series makes stops in Wellington and Sydney over the next two weekends.
Hirayama and Harry Jones are taking on the honours in place of John Moonlight.
“As John has been unable to train with the team due to course commitments, the team will be captained in New Zealand by Harry and in Australia by Nate,” said Canadians Sevens head coach Damian McGrath. “Moonlight will join up with the squad in Wellington and be available for both legs.
“It’s important to have your leaders around in practice as well as games so it’s great having Nate and Harry to lead the team and they’re just sharing the load so John doesn’t have to worry and he can focus on just playing.”
Canada is coming off of a 13th place finish in Cape Town and currently sit 13th in the 2016-17 season standings.

The tour stops in Wellington this weekend and and in Sydney Feb. 4-5.
The HSBC World Rugby Series comes to B.C. Place Stadium March 11-12. The event is close to selling out.
