U14 Strikers looking to conclude outstanding campaign in style on home turf

U14 Richmond Strikers will be looking for one more celebration on home turf this week as B.C. Soccer hosts the Provincial "A" Cup Championships at Hugh Boyd and Minoru Parks, starting Thursday.

The Richmond Strikers will be the lone team enjoying field advantage when the city hosts B.C. Soccer’s Provincial “A” Cup Championships, starting on Thursday.

The four-day event will feature an action-packed schedule, with matches at Minoru and Hugh Boyd Parks, to determine B.C. bragging rights in boys and girls divisions ranging from U13 to U18.

The Strikers are looking to conclude an outstanding season in style by winning the “treble” at the U14 girls level. The Richmond Girls Soccer Association rep side earlier won the Metro Selects League regular season title, then captured the Coastal Cup in May with a win in penalty kicks over West Vancouver.

Those same two teams will open play on Thursday morning on grass at the Boyd Oval at 10 a.m. Richmond then moves to turf to face Victoria on Friday (10 a.m.), on Boyd Red, and Kelowna United Saturday (1 p.m.) on the Minoru Oval.

The top two teams following round-robin play will square off for the Provincial Cup on Sunday morning (8 a.m.) at Minoru #2.

The tournament is being hosted by Richmond F.C.
