The 2018 Richmond Little League Baseball program is taking a big step forward this year as they begin preparation for the District Six Playoffs , starting on Saturday at Hastings Park in Vancouver.
The MAJORS 12 team, made up of primarily Richmond players — with additional talent from neighbouring SVLL and NWLL — will take on Hastings, Trout Lake, South Van and New West on the road that eventually leads to representing Canada at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania come August.
The playdowns conclude July 15. The winner will be moving on to the Little League Provincials in Trail.
While the team goals are minimal for the second-year program at this juncture, they hope to represent the City of Richmond well in the upcoming tournament.
If their success in exhibition games, along with their work ethic in practices leading up to the zones are any indication of their commitment, they should be able to just that.
