Camryn Rogers delivered career best performances to capture the women’s hammer event at the Pac-12 Track and Field Championships in Tucson, Arizona.
The Richmond native and Cal-Berkeley sophomore made a statement on her first attempt with a PB throw of 68.99 metres. That put the Kajaks standout in the lead after the opening round and she did not look back.
She bettered that mark on her next attempt 69.24m which was another personal best, school record and U23 Canadian record.
In the sixth round, after Rogers had wrapped up the competition, she unleashed the best throw of the day at 69.79m. That mark stands as the Pac-12 winning mark and is the fifth-best by a Canadian ever.

The McMath graduate entered the competition ranked third in the nation, behind Arizona State’s Beatrice Llano and UCLA’s Alyssa Wilson.
The reigning U20 world champion becomes the second Cal-Berkley athlete to win the women’s hammer event, ironically joining Kajaks alumni and McRoberts grad Jennifer Joyce who was inducted to the Richmond Sports Wall of Fame back in September.
Next up for Rogers is next week’s NCAA West Preliminaries in Sacramento. The NCAA Championships take place the first week of June in Austin, Texas.
