Two Richmond athletes win gold in international jiu-jitsu competition

Athletes worldwide were in Las Vegas in August for an international jiu-jitsu tournament.

Two Richmond jiu-jitsu athletes brought home gold medals after competing on the world stage last week.

Richmond Apex Martial Arts athletes Isabelle Chen, 14, and Adriana Rozdale, 10, competed against other youth from around the world in the annual Jiu-Jitsu Con Tournament, which took place at the Las Vegas Convention Centre West Hall from Aug. 30 to Sept. 1.

Chen won gold in the yellow belt division while Rozdale won gold in the grey belt division of the single-elimination-style tournament.

The Jiu-Jitsu Con Las Vegas is considered to be the second-largest Brazilian jiu-jitsu tournament in the world.
