COVID-19: Explore the world without leaving home

Countries around the world have limited people’s movements in an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19, including grounding flights and shutting borders.

Countries around the world have limited people’s movements in an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19, including grounding flights and shutting borders.

But while everyone is spending more time indoors, there’s way to still see the world – thanks to global live-stream videos.

Here are a few live feeds from around the globe:

Northern Lights

This live feed shows the sky above Churchill, Manitoba. If you check-in during night time – and if the weather is clear – you may be able to catch a glimpse of the aurora borealis.

African gorillas

This forest habitat cam runs day and night, offering a look at the daily lives of gorillas at the GRACE gorilla conservation centre in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The live stream is one of many run by explore.org.

Bald eagle nest

US-based Raptor Resource Project reconstructed a bald eagle nest after it was destroyed, hoping the pair of eagles would return.

The nest is located near a trout hatchery in Decorah, Iowa. The live-feed shows them raising their brood.

Pandas in China

This live-cam, set up at the Panda Yard at Wolong Valley Nature Reserve in Sichuan, China, shows the bears exploring their bamboo oasis. The cam shows 11 different panda yards.

Times Square, New York

While Times Square is usually one of the busiest places in New York, the stay-at-home order imposed by the state’s government has left the streets quiet.

Screens that used to promote shows can now be seen displaying messages of support for health-care workers on the front lines of the pandemic.

Seoul, South Korea

If you’re in for a panoramic view, check out the live-feed from Seoul’s Namsan Tower, one of the highest points in Seoul.

Venice, Italy

Like New York, Italy’s streets have emptied as people deal with COVID-19 and stay at home. However, you can still catch the sights of Venice through this rolling live-feed of the city.

Tokyo, Japan

The Shibuya crossing is usually packed with people, but, as with Times Square and the streets of Venice, the junction is seeing much foot traffic these days.
