Letters: Get businesses to remove their posters from public places

A Richmond News reader doesn't think tax dollars should be used to remove posters.

Posters are being stuck to utility poles around Richmond.

Dear Editor,

Re: "City of Richmond investigating increase in posters glued to public spaces"

I complained to city hall three or four months ago in regards to the many posters appearing along No. 3 Road and all around Richmond Centre Mall. I live on Minoru Boulevard, and there are still lots of them all around us and the park.

I was told to send the information to him, and he will get someone to remove them.

What?

They need to call the phone numbers on the posters, and tell that business to remove them all within one week themselves, or face a fine and costs for removal.

Why are my taxpayer dollars going to someone to remove them? They should be removed by the people who put them up in the first place.

It really makes the city look tacky, and now the poles are all scratched up and need re-painting as rust is settling in.

I am constantly amazed at a complete lack of attention by many departments at city hall.

They keep passing the buck from one department to another, and then nothing gets done.
