The Editor,
Quick note of thanks to your newspaper for promoting Operation Red Nose over the holidays. Carlene Lewall and her able crew in Ladner ran an excellent organization, making it easy for volunteers like me to do our work and have fun doing it.
Sincere thanks, also, to all those who used Operation Red Nose to get themselves, their vehicles and their guests home safely. One of the things that impressed me was how many young drivers used Red Nose. They and the parents who raised them need to be commended for their social responsibility.
Also, a big thank you to my personal sponsors: Dawson Service (New Westminster), Morita Auto Body (New Westminster), CWD AutoClean (Langley), Otter Co-op Gas Bar (Ladner), Jack and Nancy Buchan (Richmond) and Jill Seymour (Richmond) who covered the cost of driving my old Chevy wagon as an escort vehicle. I drove almost 1300km this year, and compared to the weather of the past two years, it was easy going.
Part of that was credit to my frequent co-volunteer, Scott Rennie (Tsawwaasen) who, given any street address in Metro can get clients, their vehicles and their guests home by the shortest route, in the shortest time, with re-assuring confidence. All I had to do was follow his taillights. Thanks, Scottie.
Happy New Year Everyone!
