More than 20 Halloween-inspired events and activities will be held around the city for the spooky season this month.

There will be Halloween-themed skates in costume at Minoru Arenas, a monster mash dance party at Cambie and South Army Community Centre, pumpkin carving and painting at Steveston Community Centre, and more throughout October.

The annual Halloween Fireworks Festival is taking place between 6:30 and 8:45 p.m. on Oct. 31 at Minoru Park, 7191 Granville Ave., with stage performances by a magician, jugglers and the "ShowStopers" ensemble, roaming actors in costumes and stilt walkers.

There will also be a live pumpkin carver, an inflatable corn maze and carnival-style games to win candy and chocolate.

The fireworks finale will start at 8:30 p.m.

Richmond's Lansdowne Centre is also hosting a Halloween train for children and parents in its centre court atrium from Wednesday through Sunday, Oct. 2 until Nov. 1 between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Train tickets are $5 for one ticket or $20 for six tickets.

The mall will also have an indoor trick-or-treat event on Oct. 31 from 4 to 6 p.m.

Meanwhile, a local resident is hosting a haunted forest on his farm at 10900 Sidaway Rd.

The haunted forest will include decorations and lights from Oct. 24 to 31 from 12 to 9 p.m. and is free for families to visit.
