Now that Thanksgiving is out of the way, it’s time to start preparing for Halloween.
More than 20 “spooktacular” activities are on offer in the City of Richmond starting next week and ending with a bang with a free fireworks show on Halloween Day.
The first event will be pumpkin carving with youths for those 55 years old and above on Friday, Oct. 20, followed by a pumpkin sale on Oct. 21 at Richmond Nature Park to raise funds for its environmental programs.
Events open to all ages include a self-guided scavenger hunt on Halloween weekend and spooky parties at South Arm and Hamilton community centres.
Community members are also invited to dress up and skate to festive music at the Minoru Arena from Oct. 27 to 29. Free rentals will be given to those wearing costumes.
Various spooky crafts activities and dance parties are available to preschoolers and children, and children three to eight years old will get to trick or treat in city centre on Halloween Day.
Adults can paint festive pumpkins, while Richmondites 55 years old or above can sign up for a grandparent and grandchild trip to the Aldor Acres pumpkin patch in Langley.
Lastly, the celebration will wrap up with a free fireworks festival at Minoru Park on Oct. 31 from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. Community members will get to enjoy stage performances, trick-or-treating and other family-friendly activities.
Check out and register for the program events on the City of Richmond’s website.
